I can't speak highly enough of Julian, an absolute pleasure to work with and a true professional.

We shot a range of images for his new up and coming website... stay tuned for this one.

We started the shoot at Perry Hall Park where Julian trains everyday in preparation for 2012.

We then moved over to the Alexandra Stadium in Birmingham where we went on to shoot the more high end visuals of a true Athlete.

Dynamo Dragons 2011/2012 Shoot

Alex Styles Photography have recently sponsered Dyanmo Dragons F.C.

Last week we shot Dynamo Dragons football team head shots in the studio.

As part of the team I couldn't wait to get the lads in for some head shots. I have had plenty of stick over the last couple of seasons about my photography company, however the lads were dying to get in front of the camera.

Everyone had a great time and the shots look awesome.

We wanted to create a very Dynamic edgy image from each player.

Today we shot a look book styled video shoot with model Kelly Dickson.

We shot the video with a Canon 550d and hired 3 x Dedo Lights for lighting.
Kelly was great in front of the camera, and considering it was her first Video shoot the results are fantastic.

Alex Styles Photography recently shot the Uniforms that were used for The Royal Wedding this year.

It has been kept under wraps until now, due to how much of a high profiled event the day was. If any of the images were leaked to the press etc there would have been outrage.

We had only 2 hours to shoot the garments before they were whisked back to Westminster Abbey.

The images were shot 2 weeks before the big day. We only received the e-mail this morning to say we now have kind permission from Kashket and Partners to use the images for our portfolio.

New Venture: The Rag Dolls

Hey Guys and Girls,

For those of you who don't already know, I am currently in the middle of setting up a High End Fashion Photography company, specialising in the highest quality of imagery possible.

The company is call The Rag Dolls (www.theragdolls.co.uk) and I've set it up with a great photographer David Hall.

David has recently splashed out on a range of high end photography equipment, which really shows in the final images.

We have been recently shooting with a Digital Hasselblad H4D 31+ with 80mm lens. Also we have just invested in some Profoto lighting gear which is really going to push us one step ahead in the industry.

Today we shot Monika T as part of a new company I'm in the middle of setting up with my good friend David Hall.

We want to start working with real high end fashion and professional models, and what a way to start.

I have wanted to shoot Monika for a while and finally after a long wait yesterday we got the chance and boy did she rock the shoot.

After every frame we were so amazed with the variety of shots we had to choose from. Monika new exactly from the start just how to work the camera and make that wow factor image.

She is so professional and a pleasure to work with.... Highly recommended.

We shot everything with the Hasselblad, tethered via Phocus. At times it was painfully slow due to my slow mac and the humongous file size at 90MB per image. In total we shot over 20GB of stuff :/ EEK !!

WOW.... Ok.... So where do I start.

My good friend David Hall has just purchased something that could change lives...
The New Hasselblad H4D 31+ with 80mm lens.

After a long hard 6 weeks of waiting it finally arrived and boy did it deliver. We had the pleasure of testing it out on 2 amazing models. (Hope Rosemary and Amy Kirkpatrick)

The attention to detail the camera gives is out of this world, from skin tones to crisp details, it really makes our images stand out from the crowd.

We decided to add some more frames to the studio. Although the walls are like 10,000 years old and crumble if you even touch them.. we decided to go ahead anyway.

It's great to show our clients some of our high end work and although the website is great for this, you can never go wrong with a high quality print in a nice gallery style frame.

WOW.... what an Awesome shoot with Jes Anarchi.

Jes hasn't modelled for over 6 months, yet she rocked the shoot like she'd been front cover of NME the day before.

I have been wanting to shoot Jes ever since I began in the photography world. Even though she has a crazy busy Rock N Roll lifestyle, the day finally came.

She reminded me of a cross between Avril Lavigne, The Olsen Twins and Jennifer Aniston.... so you know that can only be a good thing.

Shoot: Marilyn Monroe

Last week Alex Styles Photography shot a series of hair shots for a Francesco Group colour competition.

Each of the girls got to cut and colour their own style and the theme was 50's.

None of the girls were professional models, however they all worked really well in front of the camera.

We shot this one girl (Emily) who's mood board was mainly made up of Monroe pics, I don't think the outcome is too far off reality.

Rankin

As many of you already know over Christmas I got the chance to assist the great fashion photographer Rankin.

As Rankin is one of my all time photography idols it was such a great opportunity to see how he works.

The shoot was for Swatch watches and was shot in a large warehouse in west london. The shoot took place over 3 days. We shot all the latest ad campaign stuff and also a tv commercial.

The budget for the shoot must of been massive as my first job was to go to the local Tesco and buy 7 Bins and 200 Coat Hangers which came to around £124.00. Also to finish each day we had as much pizza as you could eat.... yummy. (Images for proof)

Apart from making coffee for most of the day, I did get a chance to get right in the action and support the main lighting rigs and reflection etc.

On the day Rankin shot a range of top models and the images looked awesome. Everything was shot tethered to Capture One. The client could therefore see exactly how the images were looking as they were shot.

TLC Sport Shoot

Last week Alex Styles Photography took part in a 4 Day Shoot in Northampton for sport wear company TLC Sport. We shot 5 very different models for the new summer 2011 catalogue. The shoot was amazing and the outcome of the images was extremely positive.

Alex Styles Photography has had one hell of a weekend.

From Fashion to Celebs to Hair Salons to DJing this has been one busy week for us, and we've loved every second of it.

One of my goals in photography is to work with Celebrity's day in day out and for a brief 2mins on Saturday the 5th December it happened. Not only that but it happened with the one person I have dreamed about photographing since I first picked up a camera, Fearne Cotton.

Fearne was as lovely as ever and so professional in front of the camera.

For most of the day I was slummed with the rest of the press style photographers (which I hated), although I still got some great pics. However, although the pics we're good, I was hungry for more and something more fashionable than just smiling for the camera.

I met Fearne backstage and asked her if I could just get a quick shot of her up against a plain white wall. It was only then when I asked if we could do something a bit more fashionable and asked her to just look really relaxed and natural to which she did.

I am so happy with the final results, they look as if we had hours together when in reality we had literally 2mins max.

The team ventured into Birmingham to shoot a 6 Page fashion spread for Kismet Magazine. The shoot took place in Urban Outfitters (Birmingham) who also supplied all of the clothing for the shoot.

October is finally here which only mean one thing, Halloween is here.

Alex Styles Photography today shot a range of spooky portraits of the student promotion team at Walkabout in Wolverhampton.

We shot the series with a fisheye to give that extra bit of edge to the photos. The concave lens let's you get close and personal and also deforms the subject's look.

The night is going to consist of lots of fun, dancing and drinking and of course fancy dress.

We recently shoot Andrew Tennant in the studio who rides professional for Team GB. Cyclist Andy is a good friend of mine and it has taken over a year to get a date sorted in which we could conduct the shoot.

After a long long haul we finally got a date booked and had a great time.

Andy was great in front of the camera and was open to a range of different ideas. We mainly focused on spot lighting as this really brought the GB colours in his outfit.

Alex Styles Photography today welcomed professional footballer Matt Jarvis.

The Wolves Midfielder had a range of shots taken for Ego Hair salon in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton.

Matt was great in front of the camera and acted extremely professional throughout the shoot. He had no idea about what type of shots I wanted to create, but he was more than happy to go along with my ideas.

Although the shoot was mainly focused on getting the shots Ego required, we also had a bit of fun and have created a new ad campaign that we are going to pitch to Wolves in the near future.

We are all very pleased at how the shots came out, Here are a few below from the day.

Here we have Colleen... An old friend turned model who has been waiting for a shoot with Alex Styles Photography for quite some time. Well wait no more because that time came today as we focused on some sexy, raunchy images to boost the portfolio.

The idea of the shoot was based on Rankin's lingerie images as I wanted to create a sexy yet still fashion based theme.

Colleen was awesome from start to finish as she always kept her fun bubbly personality throughout the shoot. We had such a laugh and have gained some fantastic images for the both of us.

ALEX STYLES PHOTOGRAPHY

Team: Al, Ed, Joey, Anna, Helen, Kerry, Michelle, Emma, Ricky.

Our first ever location shoot took place yesterday in the lovely Welsh town of Barmouth.

The team of 9 set off at 9:00am from Wolverhampton to arrive in Barmouth at 11:30am. The journey was a worrying one due to some extreme weather as soon as we hit the middle of the Welsh mountains. It started to bucket down and i don't think any of us had never seen rain like it, the clouds were blacker than the night.

However, the tunes were blasting and everyone was in high spirits. As soon as we arrived the clouds parted and the sun shone through... it was perfect.

We set up the tent on the beach and unloaded all of the gear.

The hair and make-up team kicked things into action by getting our beautiful models ready for the shoot.

We started off with some casual clothing, jeans, tee's, jumpers etc as it was still a bit over cast, but as soon as we got into the day out came the lovely clothing from Julia Fish, the designer of The Saress.

We had a full day's shooting and didn't get home till 12:00am. It was well worth it though and I'm sure you'll agree from looking at the following shots from the day.

At long last a brand new FLASH website has arrived, with images filling the screen it gives clients a much clearer insight to the quality of Alex Styles Photography.

However I'm hoping he has enjoyed the process and I know it's been well worth the blood, sweat and tears as he has truly created a fantastic site.

The stylish yet simplistic look is exactly what I was looking for and it is as if Ricky has read my mind.

This is always a tricky shoot, but always a great laugh. Hayley is one of my closest girlfriends and I always drag her down to the studio whenever I'm testing out new lighting techniques etc.

She is adamant she never takes a good photograph, however I feel that this is one of the shoots where she actually came out of with a big smile on her face.

The images where purely taken to test out our new setup in the studio, where we now shoot straight to a macbook pro through a firewire cable to Capture One Pro. This gives clients the opportunity to see exactly how their pics are looking as they continually flash up on the large monitor display.

As my father and brother are currently having their hair cut by Helen Davis (hairdresser from Nicholas in Tettenhall) it got my thinking back to the time we did a shoot of one of her best friends and fellow hairdresser Kirsty. I love this series of images as it was Kirsty's first ever photoshoot, and she rocked it.

I think this has to be one of the most diverse shoots we have done yet. I mean can you believe all of these pics above were taken on the same day and are of the same person it's madness.

Look out for this name in the future of fashion.
